  1. Hey all!

My weekend in New York City was fantastic. I flew from Granada-Madrid and Madrid across the Atlantic Ocean to NYC by myself, but the flight was easy and I made friends with the person sitting next to me on the second flight.

I stayed with my friends in Brooklyn. It was great for two reasons: 1) there's great food in Brooklyn, and 2) it was one of the friends' birthdays on Saturday. He was really sad on the afternoon of his birthday because all of his friends told him that we couldn't go out to dinner, but in reality we all made plans for a huge surprise party! It was fantastic and I saw a lot of my old friends that I had not seen in a long time. I brought him a nice bottle of Rioja as a present ;)

I think that my job interview went very well. It was a really long and difficult process!! I had to take a math exam, give a 5 minute practice lesson to a false "class," participate in a long group discussion, write an essay, and have a half-hour personal interview. My only problem was writing the essay. It wasn't the content that was difficult, it was the act of writing. Do you have any idea why? I don't know if I have to job or not, I'll tell you when I hear in 1 month!

I only visited two monuments in NYC. I went to the bottom of the Empire State Building (I have a good photo looking up from the street if you want to see it). And my Mom and Dad came to visit me from Boston and we all went to see Ground Zero (La Zona Zero) and the new tower they are building. It was beautiful but it was also a very powerful experience for me because I still remember watching the terrorist attacks on TV at my school 11 years ago.

I didn't buy any interesting things, only good food =)

    See you later this week!
